Modern graphics processing units (GPUs) are incredibly efficient in manipulating computer graphics and image processing. Nvidia coined the phrase when it promoted the GeForce 256 as “the world’s first GPU” in 1999. It was described as a “single-chip processor with integrated transform, lighting, triangle setup/clipping, and rendering engines” in its presentation.
